They say that I have the best ass below 14th street, is it true

Friday was....amazing.

We had a clean-up at our office and I was taking a ton of shit home. D who was on jury duty had finished early. So he came into the city with the car so we loaded it up. Since we were in the city I loved, and I was in a mood to see theater that I've seen before we went to the Nederlander Theater and put our name in the raffle for Rent.

An aside here...As of now, four shows on Broadway have these amazing raffles. Wicked, Avenue Q, Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Rent. Show up 2 and a half hours before the show and put your name in. 2 hours prior they call a bunch of names and maybe you get tickets! These tickets are front and second row...and we've been lucky and we haven't been.

So we won the Rent Raffle. Anyway...it was AMAZING. The man playing Roger took One Song Glory into a totally different direction that just worked. But all that pales before Mimi. I have never heard a better Mimi, live or on CD. (Yes that means she was better than the original.) Maureen made the musical phrase "Only thing to do is jump over the moon" into the sweetest musical phrase I've heard in a long long time. We're thinking of hijacking a friend who has never seen Rent live and dragging him next week.

If you're coming to NYC...see Rent. It's been on Broadway for 10 years but like a fine wine, it's gotten better with age!

Unconfidential to Baggage A BUNCH of the current cast of Rent read your blog. They got there from the title and stayed for the content. I mentioned your blog to one of the cast and she talked knowledgeably about it. Thought you might want to know how they are pulling for you.

Also viewing this weekend, we saw Grindhouse. The double feature with two movies one directed by Robert Rodriguez the other directed by Quentin Tarrentino. It is their tribute and addition to the b-movie X-ploitation movies. It's a double feature so you do feel like you've gotten your money's worth.

In the case of the first movie, it wasn't really my thing...with one exception. I just loved Miss Prosthetic Leg- Machine gun. That just did it for me.

In the case of the second movie, Death Proof. Oh Quentin my Quentin, DAMN. It was an amazing movie and I just loved watching it.

Go see it, if you liked Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill. Really, pay the money and go see it in a theater. If you don't like blood and gore, skip the first movie, but don't miss DeathProof.
