I am musical and I love to sing. That being said I think that people with great speaking voices sometimes get left out. Here are a list of people who I love to hear speak.
1) James Earl Jones
Whether it is Darth Vader or the Lion King his voice sets him apart.
2) Jim Dale
Listen to the Harry Potter on audio, he makes it magical.
3) John Lennon
I loved listening to him speak. Towards the end of his life his accent melded with a New Yorker accent and it just worked.
4) Sean Connery
Whether it's "Bond, James Bond" or "You cannot die, Highlander" I just love hearing him speak.
5) Ron Perlman
Hellboy? you ask. No Vincent. This is my favorite poem in the world.
6) Ian McShane
Whether he's saying vile language on Deadwood, or now on Kings DAMN I love listening to him talk.
7) James Marsters
Duh.
8) Alyson Hannigan
Before you think I'm going Buffy crazy, just listen to her for a bit. Whether on Buffy or How I Met Your Mother her voice is just amazing.
9) Katherine Hepburn
No one else in the world had a speaking voice like hers. Her voice showed her strength and her vulnerabilty --often at the same time.
10) Judy Garland
She not only had one of the best singing voices ever, she had one of the greatest speaking voices.
11) Julie Andrews
Ditto. The dr who removed the nodules on her chords should not only be charged with medical malpractice, he should be charged with defacing a national treasure.
12) Audra McDonald
Woefully underused on Private Practice, I love this woman's voice. Her singing voice is amazing but her speaking voice is like listening to taffy wrapped in velvet.
13) Meryl Streep
No matter what accent she is using, her voice is just wonderful
Who do you like to hear speak?

I totally agree with most of these. I've always loved Meryl Streep.
Happy T13!

I loved your list and agree with almost all of them (Sean Connery and Kathryn Hepburn especially - and I'd like to add my favorite hunk, Pierce Brosnan. I just love that Irish Lilt that goes so well with those Irish eyes of his.

I like Sean Connery and Julie Andrews. Distinct voices.

Interesting list, though I don't know everyone on it. Ian McShane is like Hugh Laurie -- a Brit who can do a flawless American accent.

So often the voice can make the star.

Great list - I love being able to hear all of them and know exactly who they are from just the sound of their voice.

I love distinctive voices, too. Often with my kids, I will ask them where they have heard a cartoon/movie voice before. It's fun to get them to think outside the box.

Some of them I don't even know, but Alyson's voice is definitely amazing.
I would add Jasmes Morrison (Bill Buchanan from 24), whose voice always gives me goosebumps.

I just finished listening to Jim Dale do "Around the World In 80 Days". If he'd never done anything but record books, he'd still be one of the greatest actors ever. Phenomenal.

Great list. I would add Don Henley. Love his voice!

OMG Alan Rickman, of course. He could read the phone book to me and I'd be entranced :-)

Yeah, you're so right. Some people are just blessed with voices. Happy TT!

Morgan Freeman - that's why he always does commercials and voice overs - and virtually every movie he stars in he also plays the role of the narrator.

I adore Jim Dale.
Another gorgeous young voice, Jesse Martin. Mmmmmm.
