The Great Gatsby...shocking, interesting and an entertaining read. The Grapes of Wrath...also shocking, disturbing but oh so real...it paints a vivid and raw picture of a time in history...the visuals from reading that book still haunt me. Interesting post. God bless.

I read "East of Eden" because it was an Oprah selection. I really enjoyed it.

Mrs Figby

My all time favorite book is _Pride and Prejudice_. I'm also a BIG Steinbeck fan (have been since high school.) My hubby's all time favorite book is _The Count of Monte Cristo_. He's read it about 20 times. Not bad for an engineer...

 Jessi

I've always realy liked Crime and Punishment. To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my favorites too.

Sorry for the typo. Should have been "really." Duh.

Lolita. It was just well done. I couldn't put it down.

I don't know if it is a "classic" but I love The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. It is LONG but I felt smarter when I finished it, oh and I did enjoy it. I could just envision it all NYC pre skyscrapper.

Patti

I love the Grapes of Wrath and East of Eden. I just read The Good Earth, and enjoyed it.

Avonlea

I love anything by George Elliot - Middlemarch and Mill on the Floss especially. I also liked the works of the Bronte sisters and everything by Edith Wharton and Jane Austin.

c

My Antonia by Willa Cather, and The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck.

Fun post!
