That they are wrong... you are beautiful... and to be more patient. This is a lovely, lovely post.

I would tell my 14 year old self: 'You're not the crazy one. It really is EVERYBODY ELSE.'

I can't even go there. It's too raw. Something horrible happened to me at the age of fourteen. I guess the number one thing I would tell myself is not to be so afraid of people in authority. Don't be afraid to stand up for myself, and tell someone No, that is not O.K. to do to a fourteen year old girl.

Oh, wow. What a neat idea...soul-searching, but neat. I think I'll use this for one of my upcoming TTs. I wish I could go back 10 years and just give myself a huge hug, you know?!!?

I would tell myself:

Don't worry about what other people think. Screw them if they don't like you. YOu are a better person than they are anyway.

Don't be rushed to get married just because mom and SIL are pressuring you. Finish college and go into the marines like you planned. This will help you figure out who you are, which will help you choose a spouse more wisely.

You are so right about credit cards.

Wow! 14! Just thinking about it gives me chills. But I'm gonna have to take a couple of deep breaths and write a list like this one day.

very thought-provoking. that's some good stuff there. i can't even imagine what i would tell myself. too many things.

Thought provoking indeed! I adore this post. I am bookmarking it. Each week I find a TT I adore and this is the one this week :)

Happy TT and Happy Vday!

I don't even know where to start on what I'd tell my 14 year old self.

Very good TT -- I think I would tell myself to remember myself exactly as I was then and not to change for anyone for any reason. Well, that and to "get out of my own way!"

Nicole Austin

I love it! Great list! There are so many things I'd love to tell my 14 year old self, but I doubt I would listen. LOL!

I wrote a very similar letter to myself on my blog last year. Tops on the list was DO NOT START SMOKING, and don't get so stressed, it all turns out okay.

Adelle Laudan

(((hugs))) This is a wonderful TT. I don't know if I could be so brave. Kudo's to you.
Happy Valentine's Day!

There are so many things I would tell my 14 year-old self, and my 15 year old self too....Great TT!

That's a very thought provoking list. Don't we all wish we could go back in time occasionally?

Some of these things I need to tell my 27 year old self especially about credit cards... Great list

The Gal Herself

#1 broke my heart because I was a junior in high school when I lost my grandpa rather suddenly. I miss that seemingly limitless font of unconditional love and wisdom to this day! There's a Bruce Willis movie* called The Kid where he somehow gets to meet and help his 12 year old self. I recommend you rent it. Because your imagination and creativity run that way anyway, I think you'll enjoy it.

*And thanks for visiting my Die Hard TT

That was such a beautiful post. It made me cry.

i would tell myself "there IS something worse than living with your mother another year or two!"
happy t13 and i hope your valentine's day is a wonderful one!

Harris Channing

Wonderful list. You made me tear up, that's something!

Happy Valentine's Day.

What a great post! When I was 14, I met my first husband who was 17 at the time. I could say that I would like to tell myself that I needed to stay away from that woman-abusing piece of shit but the abuse was worth it: I got pregnant at 15 and my son is 12 today. I love him and have no regrets, regardless of what happened. It made me learn a lot, and at 14, I probably wouldn't have listened anyways.

My TT is 13 love songs that you can listen to in the post. Happy TT & Valentine's!

I read some of these to my own 14 year old daughter. My throats tight and tears are welling,so I guess that means some of these are general revelations for 14 or former 14 year old girls. Thanks for sharing.

Brenda ND

What a great idea to write on and to share with teenagers. I have a couple of those. Thanks.

Great idea!! Oh the things I could tell myself. I may steal your idea one week. ;) I definitely would have warned about myself about credit cards -- they're not worth the free t-shirt, ha! Happy TT!
