« Waking from a dream | Main | Thirteen reasons why Joss Whedon is my master now. »

Oh Gosh. I can't even comment on this without some serious thought. How to choose my favorites? Too many! We have thousands of books too. We live in a small, 1000 square foot apartment and we have 7 bookcases, each with 8 shelves. I once tried to estimate how many books that was, but now I can't remember. A lot.

Way back when, in my early 20s, I had friends of a friend help me move from one apartment to another.

At the end of the day one of those FOAFs told me, in all seriousness, that I should throw out all my books. Why would anyone *want* all those books, he asked.

Favorite books? It's ever-changing!

I agree with OmegaMom that my favorite authors are always changing. As I change, so does my taste for literature. Until a year ago, I'd say Banana Yoshimoto was my favorite author. Now I'm in a young adult literature kick and my two current favorites are Life as We Knew It (Susan Beth Pfeffer) and The Book Thief (Marcus Zusak).

We have about 2000 books, but are anticipating a move and I realize there are some books that I can part with at this point. My goal is to have 1000 or fewer books when we move. All old college texts are going and books which are outdated (travel guides, for example)or in very poor condition and for which I'd read a library copy anyway. I'm a librarian and am able to now look at books more objectively because of it.

Oh so, so many...

Right now I am very into series:
~Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooters
~JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood vampire series
~Karin Slaughter's Grant County mysteries

I also love:
~Bet Me - Jennifer Crusie
~To Kill a Mockingbird - natch
~Crows - Charles Dickinson

And many, many more...

So what kind of books. I'm the one with the idea for a book exchange. Not sure if I can generate enough interest for it yet though.
